Jesus would have bombed Iraq!

Just kidding. No, we all know Jesus wouldn't have done that...but, then again, we aren't supposed to take the Word literally. I mean, what if everyone ran around loving our enemies, converting them to allies, helping each other, and being humble in the face of prideful aggression? That's just not the American way. Most Christians believe that it' OK to kill people some times. Obviously we should only take His message seriously when it's fits into our military strategy.

U.S. Army Officer Refuses Orders to Shut down Al-Jazeera

According to this Wall Street Journal article, the U.S. Army issued orders to seize and shut down a TV station in northern Iraq. The orders were not carried out. Major Charmaine Means refused to violate her American principles of freedom, and was relieved of duty. Sadly, that's one less person in the Army that knows what's worth fighting for.

X2/Yes, Matrix/No

X2 was a well-balanced movie, much better than the first. They managed to get across the political and emotional vibe that made the comic famous, while still giving us a faced-paced, action packed film.

However, I can't believe there's a scene in the Matrix where everyone breaks out in song and dance. It's more of a crime than the Phantom Menace. Disney must have had a secret hand in ruining this sequel.

We get to call everything terrorism

In this article by CNN, attackers are accused of a terror strikes carried out against the U.S. military. Al Qaeda had declared war on the U.S. years before this attack. Correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn't attacking a military target a legitimate act when you are at war?

Bush Should be Impeached and Tried for War Crimes

The second story in this post, Bush Should be Impeached and Tried for War Crimes by Denise Giardina is decent reading. Since Google no longer puts USENET posts, no matter how popular, on the main index, I'm linking through proxify, in hopes that the link can be popularized. Beware, Google is now suppressing information that comes from non-corporate services.

Bloggers Boycott Google

In reaction to this move by Google, webloggers I know are boycotting the site. My new search engine of choice, so far, is AllTheWeb, for a similar balance of size and relevancy. Google apparently thinks that my site, and sites like Slashdot are merely "noise". Apparently the new facists running Google have the power to decide what news is important, and what isn't.

Bacteria may be a Powerful Deoderant

A couple days ago, I was thinking about the tooth cleaning bacteria and how it's very likely that the dental conglomerates are suppressing this research, considering the billions that may be at stake. I emailed Hammarstrom and didn't get a response. Then, right after that, I read how some people commented about how "Hippes smell bad" in the Marijuana post. I put two and two together.... Stem Cells Kick Cancer's Ass

The Bush administration vigorously forced stem cell research out of the publically funded universities and into private and military research only. Now they have been proven to have the potential to cure cancer. The private firms who were the only ones legally allowed to do research plan to extort the public for massive cancer profits. Hooray for our fucked-up administration.

A Revolution?

The United States was a brilliant idea. We had all the strength of diversity - many states, each with its own laws and currencies. These states cooperated for mutual defense and international trade. No matter your beliefs, there was probably a place for you here in this country. Read More...

New York Marijuana March

I went to the annual marijuana march today...about 500 or so people came. I handed out 200 photocopies of this Discover article about a researcher who is having a very hard time getting funding for an treatment for drug addiction.

If our fucked-up government had spent a tenth the money and effort on curing my friend's addiction, instead having convicted murderers rape him in prison, he probably would not have killed himself when he got out.

Money for research and cures for addiction, not guns to shoot farmers and dealers, is a winnable war on drugs.

What we've been doing with our tax dollars, gunning down farmers from helicopters, is sick and evil.
