Organic Farmers Help Fight Terrorism

Several prominent studies, to date, have shown that organic farming produces higher quality produce. Oranges with more Vitamin C, sweeter apples, improved soil health, and higher long-term yields are among the proven benefits.

But I don't think anyone has thought to mention that organic farming could also make it more difficult for terrorists to obtain the materials needed to make bombs. Nearly all major bomb and chemical weapons ingredients can be purchased as fertilizers and insecticides that organic farmers don't use.

So... Help fight terrorism! Buy organic.

Chomky, robots, and the way the world works

There's a simple reason why society doesn't become too unbalanced. Sometimes I forget it, but then sometimes I remember. I came across it again while having a conversation with a friend through AIM. Fortunately, I was using Trillian, and it logged the conversation. It makes a fairly interesting read.

March March

March 20th was the 1 year anniverssary of the bombing campaign in Baghdad which claimed thousands of civilian lives and was premised on the lie that Saddam hussein had nukes and was going to use them. Yvette made peace signs out of white tape on our jackets (the same white tape Steve used to mask the black screw-heads on the closet shelves), and we wandered around Manhattan with 100,000 other visionaries.

Did you know that 50% of your tax dollars get spent on the military? We have the largest military budget in the world, 10 times that of China! Did you know that the U.S. has killed more people than any other nation in history? Yeah, but we had lots of really good reasons for all that killing. We are the masters of spin, the artful dodgers of responsiblity.

Anyway, we had a good time. A German radio reporter recorded a conversation I had with someone and said she was going to try and play it on the air. And someone from a MNN show filmed Ben and I arguing about the Sep. 11th cover-up.

Why do they pick on New York?

At the movies, there's a preview now of a new film, "Day After Tomorrow", which depicts New York being overtaken by a tidal wave and then frozen. I couldn't watch it, I literally had to turn away. Behind me, another moviegoer was heard whispering, "Why do they have to keep picking on New York?"

More and more, New Yorkers are sick of watching their beloved city bombed, burned and flooded by Hollywood directors.

And that's speaks to the heart of why George Bush's new advertisements are so disgusting. He shows images of our city, being ripped and torn, and attempts to scare the viewer into voting for him. "This could happen to your city", is the message of his campaign, "Vote for me".

There's nothing in that ad that promises to help this city. It's not a message of hope. It's a message of fear.

If the Mafia were to come around to ask for protection money, I wouldn't pay. I'd sooner move to another city than pay thugs. That's the way this ad makes me feel about the Bush administration.

Upright Citizens Brigade

8 weeks ago, I started UCB's Level 1 improvisational comedy class. My purpose in taking class was to experience a new form of structured group awareness, and compare it with the others I had experienced.

We were competing with the Oscars, and still about 30 people showed up at the final performance Sunday night. The performance went well. (I was a radio announcer, a guy with a hangover who liked it when his friends fought, and someone with a magic t-shirt.)

Overall, it was a good time and I highly recommend it to anyone.
