To All,
During this year's Super Bowl, you'll see ads sponsored by beer companies, tobacco companies, and the Bush White House.
But MoveON's adversisement, voted on, paid for, and approved by over 1 million supporters will not be aired (http://www.moveon.org/cbs/ad/)
This is an excellent article on the subject: http://www.alternet.org/story.html?StoryID=17645
That's because CBS disagrees with the political content of the ad.
Yes, it is completely within CBS's rights to silence and ignore anyone it chooses. CBS is a private company. If CBS wants to promote George Bush, it can do so.
It is also competely within our rights to ignore CBS.
We can exclude CBS programs from our lists, and we can choose to boycott products that are advertised on CBS.
We can, as a people who've been silenced, send CBS a message: "You need us more than we need you"
Included below are websites which support the boycott of CBS. Add your own and email me, I'll add it to the list.
I know lots of people say "email this to all of your friends". But this time there's a real reason. The television stations won't be airing news about this boycott!
Please get this message out in any way you can. You can forward it as an email, write up a weblog on it, draw it in chalk.
