I just don't feel like we're having a big enough impact.
There's are some things we all have in common. Yes, you are included. Regardless of our political leanings, we are all very knowledgable about a wide range of local, national and geopolitical issues. We've read, researched, and learned from our mistakes. And there's something inside us that knows that political discussion is important.
I'm asking us all to take this a step further.
I would like all of us to make a pledge.
Yes, that includes you. Really. I know I don't even know you. I still want you in. I don't care if you're conservative, liberal, or a Gaean Transhumanist.
Let us, every one reading this, ask at least 1 stranger every day, in person, to talk about about political issues or interests for 5 minutes.
That's it. Just 5 minutes each day, for at least 5 days out of each week. Corner someone at a WalMart or in a train if you have to. If it doesn't go well, then try again the next day.
And when we're done speaking to them, we will urge them to take on this global discussion for themselves.
This article, itself, might not be very popular, but if everyone who reads it takes on this task, then within only six months, you will speak to your daily stranger and they'll say, "Hey, are you doing that 'Global Discussion' thing?".
That's it.
Six months of putting ourselves out there will change the social climate of the planet.
If you don't believe me, do the math. If only one out of 10 people we speak to take on the idea, then the project will double every two weeks.
If you take on this project right now, we're talking one million members, at least, in six months.
What does it take to be a member? Just use the phrase "Global Discussion" and talk to 5 strangers each week, for 5 minutes a day each.
In six months, we will, together, create a social movement that will rock the world, bring people together, and be a whole lot of fun. And all for an investment of only 2 hours (24x5 minutes) of your time.
